A Blog for My Daughter

Words from a Mother

So now that I’m home from work, and wedding planning and grocery shopping, I can finally sit down and post about the doctors appointment we had today.  It was a good one.  All my tests were good and my weight is good.  The doctor said my loss of appetite is normal, and that I should try to get something in at least.  Even if it’s only crackers.  I told her I was going to get some meal shakes, and she said that was perfect.  And then we talked about my pain.  Turns out it’s my stomach.  She said with all the extra juices my body is making, the lack of eating which is also causing acids to hang around, and the fact that my stomach has moved, all the acids are causing distress.  She said she sees women all the time that come into the hospital with the same pain.  They take Mylanta, and 15 minutes they go home.  So I am to take Mylanta 2 times a day from now on.  Fingers crossed that it works.

And lastly, we didn’t get an ultrasound, but that’s ok, because we got to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time (and yes I cried – stupid hormones).  We also learned that it’s a squirmier.  Every time she got the doppler wand in just the right spot, the baby would shoot on over to the other side.  But eventually she got it, and it was beautiful.  Very much a relief too.  Not feeling anything, and only getting bigger still hasn’t put my mind at ease that there is really a baby in there.  But with that, and that within the next couple weeks I should be feeling movement, I’m feeling much more relieved.

So now we wait till September 18th to see what we are cooking inside.  🙂
