A Blog for My Daughter

Words from a Mother

So today we went for our one month check up. I was kind of excited to see how big Kahlan had grown because I knew it had to be substantial.  I was not mistaken.

At two weeks she was:
 7 lbs. 12 oz.
20 inches long
head was 34 cm.
Today she is:
10 lbs. 3 oz.
21 1/2 inches long
head is 37 1/2 cm.
She seems to average the 75 percentile across those three measurements. The doctor was happy, and so am I.
Everything else seemed good, though she has started developing a flat spot on the right side of her head. She seems to favor that side when she’s laying down no matter how I lay her. So now we will be propping her head so that she lays on the other side for a couple days. And then just keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t get worse basically. I don’t want my baby to have to wear a helmet, so I’ll be vigilant.
After the doctors we then went to visit everyone at Spence Tech. They all gushed about how adorable she is, but mostly how content she seems, which frankly is a common statement by people when they meet her.  I honestly can’t complain (though sometimes I do at 3am), she really is a happy and content baby.
